Family Care First (FCF) in Cambodia was presented in the International Alternative Care Conference in Geneva October 3-5, 2016.
FCF was represented with the presentation on the Government Action Plan on Alternative Care by Ros Sokha, Director of the Child Welfare Department, Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, and with the presentation on “Establishing a Foster Care System in Cambodia” by Rebecca Nhep, highlighting the work of Children in Families (CIF) and their partners and the emerging alternative care panel. There was also a poster presentation session in which FCF was manned by USAID, UNICEF, Save the Children and GAC.
The 2016 annual conference was jointly hosted by the International Institute for the Rights of the Child (IDE) and the Centre for Children's Rights Studies at the University of Geneva (CIDE) with attendance of over 400 participants from more than 70 countries around the world. The event provides a bridge between research, policy and practice in the overall sphere of alternative care, and a much-needed space for discussion and exchange among experts, practitioners, academics, researchers, government representatives and young people with experience of alternative care.
